Race organisers Sublime Racing are excitedly anticipating their first race of 2021, the Enervit Peterborough Marathon on 23rd May.

With so many races being postponed and sometimes cancelled throughout 2020 due to COVID restrictions, runners are keen to return to the start line of real races.

The Enervit Peterborough Marathon’s 26.2 miles will be run on a 95% traffic-free scenic course, starting and finishing at Ferry Meadows and taking in city attractions including views of the magnificent cathedral.

For non-marathoners, Sublime Racing’s 10k races will be back with the Midsummer 10k just three weeks after the marathon on 13th June, and the popular New Year’s Eve 10k also at Ferry Meadows.  Plus a change of venue, the Graffalap on 5th September, a 15k multi-terrain lap of Grafham Water taking in all the beauty the reservoir and nature reserve has to offer.

Five-time Olympian and Enervit Peterborough Marathon ambassador, Jo Pavey commented: “It’s fantastic for Peterborough to have a full marathon, and brilliant that runners will be able to experience running the event in this great city. I’m sure this marathon is going to become extremely popular and I’m very excited to be involved.”

Race Director, Martin Jennings said: “We really are delighted to be welcoming runners back to our races.
“But none of our events would happen without the support of our fantastic race family, the volunteers we affectionately call Race Makers. We’re looking forward to meeting our Race Makers again too.”

Sublime Racing are recruiting Race Maker volunteers for their upcoming events:

  • As an individual Sublime Race Maker you will receive a Race Maker t-shirt, plus a free race entry for yourself or a friend (or a bottle of wine or box of chocolates). There’s chance to win some amazing prizes, including trainers from Brooks with RunBetter gait analysis provided by Advance Performance and open ear headphones from AfterShokz.

  • You can also run for free if you provide a volunteer for the race you wish to run in. The volunteer receives the Race Maker goodies and you receive the free race entry.

  • Running Clubs can earn discounted or free chip timing for their races depending on the number of volunteers supplied or they can opt for similar benefits that go to charities and groups for volunteering.

  • For Charities, Groups and Running Clubs, each volunteer will receive the benefits of an individual Race Maker.

  • Additional benefits apply based on the number of Race Maker volunteers supplied, these include; displaying their banners within the Start/Finish area; a cash contribution to their cause; free race entries; brand exposure via social media; named race categories and trophy presentation (when permitted).

Everyone is welcome to volunteer as a Race Maker, you don’t have to be a runner. If you let us know when you sign up, you can be placed with friends or family members.

More information for individual, running club, charity or group volunteering can be found on the Sublime Racing website. You can also register to run at sublimeracing.com

*All races will go ahead with COVID-19 safe event rules to comply with the law at race date.
