The inaugural Sublime Racing Peterborough Marathon has been unanimously voted a success by runners and volunteer Race Makers alike
The whole team pulled together to deliver a fabulous event, that went like clockwork on race day.
Entries were restricted to allow a low key soft launch and it worked beautifully. The race was only announced when the major city marathons had been opened for some time, meaning most marathoners had already committed to their challenge. The first event ran with 200 participants which was just perfect.
Overall race winner was England Masters Marathon team member Ty Farrer of Huntingdonshire AC in a cracking time of 2:41.12.
Ty said “What an event - it was amazing! Nothing better than when the fatigue kicks in at 23 miles, you know you have the pool, sauna and steam room to look forward to, on top of the massage, food, band etc.”
Winner of the women’s race was Emma Caplan, finishing in 2:57.36 which put her in fourth place overall.
Emma who travelled from Bournemouth, commented “Thank you so much for a great race and for arranging such an amazing sub 3 pacer, Ian Hammett was absolutely incredible. I am still buzzing as you can imagine and still can’t believe it. Very happy!”
The feedback has been incredible, which promises an even better event next year. Read just a few of the comments we’ve received…
